Project - KT has become an accumulation of experiences, work, and human connections. I moved to Canmore Alberta in 2015. Prior to this time, I had spent my youth with fist up. Constantly having to go another round with my Physical Disability; Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome.
The year 2014 presented me with my brightest horizons. I was 22 years old & had become a frequent visitor to Boston Children's Hospital. After a dozen trips, surgeries, and check-ups I had really had enough of it all. I asked my surgeons to remove the leg. They informed me of a newer procedure involving liquid nitrogen. It was not guaranteed and if not successful I would receive the amputation I had asked for. However; I awoke to my team of doctors running medical instruments down my leg and touching my toes asking If I could feel them. I sure could. I awoke the next morning confused, explaining to my father my leg did not hurt. I truly didn't understand what had happened. That afternoon I walked out of the Hospital, across the street, and through the parking lot pushing the wheelchair, I had been using the previous 22 years.
I still have battle pains although I have found a lifestyle that allows me to manage yet still push my perceived boundaries. In short, I contribute it all to these three factors.
- Understanding the benefits of an increased heart rate through motion.
- A near Vegan diet to reduce all inflammation and improve faster recovery times.
-Removing negative thought cycles. Teaching myself I can do just about anything. It may not be the way others do it but I'll find a way.
